- issues or symptoms you are experiencing
- medications you are taking
- blurriness or other vision difficulties you may be having
- your work environment
- recent health changes and your overall health
- your family history
- previous vision conditions
- and more!
Careful attention to your answers is a key part of our work in determining treatments and recommendations.
Vision & Eye Function Testing
To ensure you have the clearest vision possible we will measure how each eye is seeing. Brodie Optometry’s vision acuity test and eye functionality assessments are completed using the latest and most advanced technology.
The results of the acuity test results are expressed as a fraction, with 20/20 being the standard for normal visual acuity.
The eye function tests evaluate
- depth perception,
- color vision,
- eye muscle capabilities,
- peripheral vision
- responsiveness to light
The results of these tests and your answers to our initial questions determine your need (or not!) for corrective glasses, contacts or vision therapy. Dr. Brodie and Dr. KcKinch will recommend and prescribe only the best option(s) for you.
Free infant eye exams are available at Brodie Optometry for all children under the age of 12 months. We encourage mothers and fathers to bring infants in for an exam, reminding parents that many eye development issues are correctable if discovered at an early age. Since 80% of what a child learns at the infant stage is through his or her eyes, poor eye health can be detrimental to a child’s development. An infant eye exam is a key factor in the success of a baby’s wellness plan.
The American Optometric Association’s national InfantSEE® program has been developed to ensure vision care for all infants. Brodie Optometry is part of this important program to promote healthy eyes and vision development of all infants.
Did You Know?
There are many serious eye diseases that silently damage the eye. However, in many cases, the damage is irreversible once symptoms finally do appear. Many patients don’t have yearly eye examinations because they “see fine.” The professionals at Brodie Optometry carefully complete eye health evaluations for all medical conditions, especially
- high blood pressure
- macular degeneration
- dry eye
- and more
Sometimes waiting two or more years between eye exams allows unchecked symptoms time to become true concerns. Make your appointment today!
Eye drops are great for providing temporary relief from dry or itchy eyes that may be caused by allergies, being tired or other irritants. When that use extends to several times a day–each and every day–the problem is likely more serious.
Relief is available. Don’t suffer silently. We are the only Perrysburg optometry practice with the LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation System which is an advanced dry eye treatment system.
