Dr. Brodie

Dr. Brodie received his first pair of glasses when he was in the second grade, and was less than thrilled. He remembers telling his mother during an office visit for a new pair of glasses in sixth grade that it would be neat to be an eye doctor.

Over the years, Dr. Brodie visited more than 20 different optometrists to observe and learn about the profession. While pursuing a bachelor’s degree in genetics from Ball State University, he decided to make optometry his career.

Dr. Brodie graduated from the University of Houston, College of Optometry in 1994. Born in Findlay and raised in Indiana, he moved back to Ohio in order starting his career in private practice.

In June 2001, Dr. Brodie purchased a small practice in Deshler, Ohio and expanded his practice In March 2004 by opening an office in Perryburg, Ohio. In a leap of faith, the current Perrysburg office (and additional retail rental space) was built in 2015 and we continue to accept new patients at both locations.

Dr. Brodie met his wife, Lori, while they were students at Ball State. She has corporate finance experience and oversees the financial side of Brodie Optometry. Dr. Brodie and Lori have three children and live in Waterville, Ohio — where Lori is in her second term as Mayor.

Dr. Brodie feels privileged and honored to help patients achieve better eyesight. He looks forward to many more years of practicing optometry, building relationships with his patients, and helping them through their changing visual needs.

  • I took both of my children ages 7 and 9. They had never been to an eye doctor before other than screenings at school. The staff and doctor were wonderful. They explained everything they were doing to them and eased there minds. They were afraid when we first came but left with smiles on there faces and were excited to get their new glasses. Would highly recommend Dr Brodie’s office.

  • I have been going to Dr. Brodie for many years and I am never disappointed. He is very personable and is patient with my daughter when checking her eyes. I love the selection of frames also. I live almost on the Michigan border and have no problem driving to Perrysburg for eye appointments.

  • Dr Brodie is the ultimate, he allows me to relax and sit back while he sees the issue and addresses it with ideas and solutions no other Dr has offered. Great guy too! Rachel is the very BEST….she will help you find YOUR perfect pair to fit your style.

  • The staff is friendly the eye exam is very detailed. Wait time the last few times I have been there has been a bit long, but that’s what happens when you are waiting for a good eye exam. I have been to other places and they have been awful mostly in the box stores. Literally 5 minute eye exams in and out.

  • Very professional, very clean, great aesthetic, friendly, and concise! They were very busy, but had people moving along. I had to exercise a little patience, unlike most people being capable of such a discipline anymore…

I attribute the wait to a business that is known for doing good business – treating people right, doing their job right, and maintaining their status in their industry.

    Brodie Optometry is excellent.

  • Starting this (Sensory Learning Program) I wasn’t sure what the outcome would be. To me “J” never had a big disability or problem, but something just wasn’t right and we never knew what it was. His eyes have made great improvements with tracking and he tells us how much easier it is for him to sound out words and blend them together. We notice little changes but more important, how he feels has made it all worth it! That he feels different and better makes my heart happy!

  • I was having a hard time wearing glasses while playing baseball. Dr. Brodie fit me with contacts and now I am hitting the ball out of the park. Thanks Dr. Brodie!
